Athina Palace
is a modern hotel built in 1996. It is a perfect
place for vacations where modern architecture
is combined in harmony with the local natural
environment. Its location, right in the middle
of Crete, makes it ideal for those who want to
visit other parts of the island. The resort consists
of 349 luxurious rooms, maisonette and suites,
with a capacity for 850 guests. The luxurious
holiday resort is 15 km from Heraklion city and
17 km from Heraklion airport and is situated
in a hilly area next to the small but smart beach
of 'Made' in Ligaria. A bus stop at the hotels
main entrance provides connections to all destinations
on the island of Crete.
Accommodation
All rooms
have a sea or mountain view, balcony or terrace,
individual air-conditioning, heating, hair dryer,
telephone, music-radio, satellite TV, refrigerator,
safety deposit box (local charge) and bathroom
with WC.
Sports & leisure
The three
large fresh water swimming pools, open jacuzzi,
children's pool and a closed heated swimming
pool, provide an ideal area for relaxing with
fantastic views.
Facilities
Boutique,
mini market, jeweller's, car rental, 3 tennis
courts, sea sports center, mini club, children's
play ground, electronic games, billiards and
table tennis. The hotel also offers Conference
facilities.
Restaurants & bars
The main
restaurants of the hotel (fully air-conditioned),
offer an American buffet breakfast, lunch and
dinner buffet, of local and international specialties.
During the day guests can enjoy the snack bars
by the pools, with cold drinks and special light
lunch dishes, or delicious snacks and cakes.
Close to the beach a typical Beach bar and Tavern
offer cool refreshments and Greek specialties
until late afternoon.

Full board
is served in the rich buffet style at the Main
Restaurant. Drinks served with main meals are:
local beer & wine, soft drinks, juices and
water. Italian Restaurant is also available for
dinner (reservation required - closed Fridays & Sundays).
An open air Greek style Tavern (next to the beach)
serves various fish specialties for lunch (reservation
required; according to the season and the weather
from May onwards). There are two Snack Bars at
the hotel: Snack Bar by the pool (10:00-18:00) & Snacks
Beach Bar (10:00-18:00). Children Snacks are
offered during the day 10:30-17:00. Ice cream
for children is available from 10:30-17:00. All
Inclusive bar service starts from 10:00-24:00.
There are various drinks available at the Main
Bar from 18:00-24:00 (local alcoholic drinks,
beer, wine, selected cocktails, soft drinks,
juices, ouzo, Brandy, Raki, coffee, tea and mineral
water).

distances
The hotel
is located 17 km from Heraklion airport (HER),
therefore would take about 20 mins in a taxi,
costing around £18.
